Delta College blanks Schoolcraft College in NJCAA Region XII Division III Women's Soccer Championship

The second ranked Delta College Pioneers claimed their third straight NJCAA Region XII Division III women's soccer championship with a 3-0 win over Schoolcraft College Saturday at University Center, MI. The Pioneers scored in the seventh minute and never looked back. Hunter Kukla buried a shot for the box at the 6:29 mark to give Delta College a 1-0. Most of the rest of the first half was played in the Pioneers offensive zone but they could dent the net as the fired 11 shots. Schoolcraft College Lindsey Schwartz made four saves in the first half to keep the Ocelots in the game. 

Just 3:16 into the second half, Elizabeth Green sprung Hannah Emmington with a pass past the defense. Emmington did the rest as she out raced the Ocelot defense and put the ball into the net for a 2-0 lead. Schoolcraft made some surges after that goal but in the 63rd minute Rachel Hahn flicked a shot by Kaylee Meissner past Schwartz to the seal the game. 

Molly Mantei and Megan Shaffer shared the shut out in the net for the Pioneers, who are now 14-0-0 on the season will advance to the NJCAA Division III Great Lakes District Championship. They will play the Region IV on Saturday November 2 at the Region XIII champions. The winner will advance to the championship game against the Region XIII champion on November 3. Winner of that will advance to the NJCAA Division III National Tournament, November 14-17 at Tompkins-Courtland Community College in Dryden, NY.
