Douglas Walker Park
Douglas Walker Park offers six group picnic areas and an enclosed shelterhouse with a bright airy interior. The shelterhouse was rebuilt in 1996 and includes a full kitchen with ample counter space, sandstone fireplace and twenty-nine 6ft tables with seating for up to 150 people. The Douglas Walker shelterhouse is the largest in our park system and also is our only heated shelter, accommodating off-season rentals. The picnic areas include 15 tables and a grill and generally accommodate up to 125 people each.

Grand Rapids is located approximately 20 miles away from the Cross Country Championship site at Douglas Walker Park in Byron Center, MI. Grand Rapids is a Michigan city on the Grand River, east of Lake Michigan. On the outskirts, the Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park has a tropical conservatory and multiple gardens. Its art collection includes works by Auguste Rodin, Henry Moore and Ai Weiwei. Downtown, the Grand Rapids Art Museum spotlights Michigan artists in its rotating shows. Grand Rapids is known for many breweries dotted around town.
