Delta College advances to NJCAA Division III women's soccer semi-finals with double overtime win over Howard

The Delta College women's soccer team pulled out a 2-1 double overtime win over Howard (MD) Community College on Thursday to advance to the NJCAA Division III women's soccer national tournament semi-finals. The second ranked Pioneers are 17-0-0 after the win yesterday.
The game was played on a cold evening with some snow on the pitch but Howard scored first at the 40:01 mark when Madalyn Nichols bent a corner kick into the net to give the Dragons a 1-0 lead. The score remained 1-0 until the 64:28 mark when Claire Rousse found Hannah Emington with a long pass behind the Howard defense and she put it pass the Dragon's keeper to tie the game. The game remained tied through regulation and the first overtime. In the 107th minute, Emington took a pass from Maddy Boyes and buried the ball in the back of the net for the winning goal.
Delta will now play tonight at 6 PM in the semi-finals against Nassau (NY) Community College in Dryden, NY.
