Oakland CC wins NJCAA Great Lakes A District Tournament heading to West Virginia for National Tournament

The Oakland Community College women's volleyball team defeated Mott Community College three sets to one on Saturday to win the NJCAA Division II Great Lakes A District Tournament to advance to the NJCAA Division II National Tournament in Charleston, WV. The Raiders are 19-7 overall and will be the 14th seed in the tournament. Oakland went 3-0 in the tournament, beating Edison State CC on Thursday night and Mott on Friday night and Saturday afternoon.

The Raiders won the match 25-23, 25-14, 21-25, 25-17 on Saturday to advance to Nationals for the second consecutive year. They were led by Brooklyn Brown with 14 kills, 13 digs and 2 block assists, while Olivia Miller had 11 kills. Haley Stewart had 18 digs and Paige Zywick had 15 digs and two services aces. Jacquline Armstrong had one block solo and six block assists. 

Mott Community College was led by Alexxis Keahey-Haney with 13 kills and four digs, while Taylor Wendling had nine kills and four block assists. Katie Speaks had 18 digs, while Nikki Kirvan had 13 digs. 

The Raiders will open the National Tournament on Thursday, November 21 at 9:00 AM against third seeded Scottsdale (AZ) Community College.
