NJCAA Releases Annual Academic Honors, Region XII Well-Represented
The NJCAA released its annual Academic Teams of the Year and All-Academic Team award recipients Monday (July 17) and Region XII was well-represented with over 70 teams and approximately 550 student-athletes recognized for their academic excellence.
To achieve NJCAA Academic Team status, a team must have a 3.0 or above GPA from the previous academic year (2022-23). Two Region XII programs were honored as Academic Team of the Year as Kirtland Community College Women's Bowling (3.60) and Jackson College Men's Bowling (3.55) took home the top GPA nationally in their respective sport. As for individual All-Academic Team recognition, student-athletes are eligible to earn academic honors by achieving an overall GPA of 3.60 or higher for the 2022-23 academic year. The criteria for the three All-Academic teams are listed below:
- NJCAA All-Academic First Team: 4.00 GPA
- NJCAA All-Academic Second Team: 3.80-3.99 GPA
- NJCAA All-Academic Third Team: 3.60-3.79 GPA
A grand total of nearly 550 student-athletes from Region XII institutions posted a 3.60 or above GPA for the 2022-23 academic year with well over 100 student-athletes earning a perfect 4.0 GPA. To view a full list of all student-athlete award winners, visit: NJCAA All-Academic Awards
