Macomb men's basketball moves up three spots in first NJCAA Division II poll of 2023

The Macomb Community College men's basketball team is up three spots to number six in the first NJCAA Division II men's basketball poll of 2023. The Monarchs are 12-3 after upsetting the defending National Champions and the #3 - South Suburban (IL) College last week. Macomb is off until the open Eastern Conference play when they host Schoolcraft College. 

St. Clair County Community College moves up one spot to number nine in this week's poll. The Skippers are 13-1 and are on a 13 game winning streak. They have not played since they defeated Glen Oaks Community College on December 19. Their next game is Saturday when they host Muskegon CC. They open conference play on the 14th when they host Mott Community College. 

Henry Ford College dropped a spot to number 12 in the poll. The Hawks are 7-4 after defeating Rochester College JV this afternoon. They were 3-1 since the last poll. During that time, they lost to #2 - Niagara (NY) County Community College before upset defending National Champions and former number three South Suburban College. They will play tomorrow at number two Niagara County CC. They will open Conference play on Saturday, January 14 at Wayne County Community College District. 

Lakeland Community College moves up one spot to number 13 in this rankings. The Lakers are 10-3 overall and 4-0 in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC). They are on a two game winning streak. The will face Erie (NY) Community College on Saturday for their next game. 

Mott Community College drops into the other schools receiving votes category in the poll. The Bears are 11-3 overall, after going 2-3 since the last poll.  Losing to Lansing CC, Kalamazoo Valley CC and Hocking College before beating Cuyahoga CC and Delta College. They return to action on Saturday when they host North Central Michigan College. They open MCCAA Eastern Conference play on January 14 at St. Clair County Community College. 

Kalamazoo Valley Community College is in the other school receiving votes category again this week. The Cougars 10-2 and have gone 3-1 since the last poll. Their only loss during that time was to number nine Macomb CC. They beat then number 16 - Mott Community College. Their next game is against the defending National Champion and tenth ranked South Suburban (IL) College on Thursday. They open Western Conference action at Lake Michigan College on January 14. 

Hocking College is in the other school receiving votes category this week. The Hawks are 12-3 overall and 2-1 in the OCCAC. They are currently on a four game winning streak including at win over then #16 - Mott Community College. On Thursday, they will host Marian University's Ancilla College in a non-conference tilt.
