No. 18 Kellogg Captures First Region 12 Division II Women’s Soccer Crown

MARYSVILLE, Mich. – The Bruins are on top! In an incredible, highly-contested Division II Tournament, the No. 18 Kellogg Community College Bruins came out on top with a pair of thrilling victories to win the women's soccer program's first Region 12 Championship.

All three games of the four-team tournament went into overtime, including Kellogg's 6-5 penalty kick shootout win over the host SC4 Skippers in the semifinals. In the championship match, Kellogg emerged victorious by hammering home the game's only goal in the first overtime period to toppled the region's top seed, No. 8 Schoolcraft College.

Kellogg goalkeeper Airanna Griecci was named Tournament MVP for her efforts while Bruins head coach Levi Butcher was tabbed as the Region 12 Women's Soccer Coach of the Year.

The Region 12 Champion and 18th ranked Bruins travel to No. 19 Southwestern Illinois College on Saturday (Nov. 4) to take on the Region 24 Champion Blue Storm. The game, scheduled for a 1 p.m. ET / 12 p.m. CT kickoff, is for the Great Lakes District Championship and an automatic bid to the NJCAA Division II Women's Soccer National Championship.
