Kellogg uses four run first inning to eliminate Edison State from Regional Tournament
Kellogg Community College jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the first inning and never looked back to defeated Edison State Community College 10-5 in the NJCAA Region XII Baseball Championship. Kellogg used two singles, a wild pitch and a sacrifice bunt to drive in the runs. Edison used a throwing error in the third to cut the lead to 4-2. Kellogg tacked on three in the fourth and two in the fifth to take a 9-2 lead after five innings.
Garrett Kelly of Edison State Community College hit the tournament's first home run to cut the lead to 9-3. Then the Chargers used a sacrifice fly in the eighth to cut the lead again to cut the lead to 9-4. Kellogg CC used a ground out in the bottom of the eighth to extend the lead to 10-4. Edison scored in the top of the ninth on a bases loaded hit by pitch. The Bruins Kane Elmy got the Chargers to hit into a double play to end the game. Josh Geshel went six innings to claim the win.
Kellogg will play the loser of the Lansing CC vs. Grand Rapids CC game at 5 PM tomorrow at Siena Heights University.
