Lakeland men's basketball team advances to NJCAA Great Lakes South District Championship Game

The Lakeland Community College men's basketball team advanced to the NJCAA Great Lakes South District Men's Basketball Championship game with a 72-67 win over Bryant & Stratton College on Friday night. The Lakers are now one win away from the NJCAA Division II National Championship. 

Bryant & Stratton was led by De'Sean Reed with 23 points and four assists, while DaRay Menefield added 18 points and ten rebounds. Greg Thurman had 14 points and three steals, while Davonte Craven grabbed nine rebounds. The Bobcats end the 2019-20 campaign with a 14-12 overall record. 

The Lakers were paced by bench players Jordan Burge with 14 points, while Jonny Bowers added 12 points and six rebounds. Tyreke Johnson added 9 points and 13 rebounds. 

Lakeland, who are now 21-7 on the season will face 20th ranked Cuyahoga Community College on Saturday at 3 PM for the Great Lakes South District Championship.
