Region 12 Bowling Set to Crown Champions on Friday at Royal Scot Lanes

With the MCCAA season complete, the NJCAA Region 12 men's and women's bowlers will converge at the Royal Scot Bowling Center on Friday (Feb. 16) to crown this season's region champions. The one-day championship will begin at 9 a.m. and will be host to the following events: doubles, singles, team and bakers. The 2023-24 Region 12 Bowling Championship oil pattern is Mercury.

WHAT'S AT STAKE

Teams will be vying for region titles and looking to solidify their spot in the NJCAA National Championship, an event that is also held at Lansing's Royal Scot Bowling Center, February 29 – March 2. Various individual spots are on the line as well as we prepare for another exciting day of bowling in our region.

MCCAA CHAMPIONSHIP RECAP – WOMEN'S BOWLING

The Kellogg Community College Bruins took home the 2023-24 MCCAA Championship behind a well-rounded team showing, highlighted by Singles and All-Event Champion, Brooklyn Page. In an ultra-tight race all day, the Bruins cleared second place Jackson College by 44 pins to earn the 2023-24 MCCAA crown. Jackson claimed the second place spot with 7,263 total pins, while Mid Michigan College checked in third with 7,023 pins (284 back of first place). Schoolcraft College rounded out the top four at 6,894 pins (413 back).

The St. Clair County Community College duo of Mackenzie Monier and Sophia Santo captured the doubles championship with a 1,073 series.

MCCAA CHAMPIONSHIP RECAP – MEN'S BOWLING

The Lakers of Mid Michigan College earned the right to be called 2023-24 MCCAA Champions after a thrilling conclusion to last week's title tilt. The Lakers, who knocked down 8,420 total pins on the day to earn the championship, held off Schoolcraft College by 87 pins and Jackson College by 302 pins. Fourth place went to St. Clair County Community College who was 396 pins back.

Mid Michigan was paced by Singles and All-Event Champion, Brett Petersen, who bowled his way to a 744 series in singles and a grand total of 1,720 pins on the day. The Lakers swept the top awards of the day after also earning the Doubles Championship behind solid efforts from Jase Clairmont and Ruberto Mosqueda. The Lakers championship duo rolled a 1,208 series to stave off the second place finishers by 40 pins.
