Delta College advances to the NJCAA National Championship on penalty kicks

For the second straight year the Delta College women's soccer is in the NJCAA Division III National Championship match. The Pioneers advance to the championship after going to penalty kicks with Nassau Community College. The Lions opened the scoring in the fourth minute when Shonagh Cleary scored. Delta tied the score in the 13th minute when Rachel Hahn took the ball near the top of the box and fired the ball off the left post where it caromed into the net. The game remained tied through out the second overtime.
In the shoot out Delta score three times with goals from Hunter Kukla, Ariana Irish and Lexi Blanchard. Up three to one in the shoot out, Pioneer goalie Molly Mantei stopped the Lions fourth shooter to advance to the championship.
The second ranked Pioneers will face Brookhaven, Sunday at 12 PM EST in Dryden, NY for the NJCAA Division III Women's Soccer National Championship.
