Eight is Great! Delta Wins Eighth Consecutive Region XII Division III Championship

UNIVERSY CENTER, Mich. – The No. 1 ranked team in NJCAA Division III captured the Region XII Division III Championship with a 5-0 victory over Owens Community College on Saturday (Oct. 26) in University Center, Mich. Saturday's championship victory brought home the program's eighth consecutive Region XII Division III crown.

The Pioneers, now 10-0-0 on the season and boasting stunning a goal differential of 56-2, recorded a trio of first half goals, kicked off by a first minute tally off the boot of Sydney Lambert. The opening-minute strike would go down as the eventual game-winner. The hosts would tack on two more in the opening stanza, both coming via Isabella Workman strikes, before closing out the game with a 50th minute goal by Kendall Jackson a team goal in the 86th minute.

Delta secured a 17-4 advantage in shots on goal. Freshman keeper Mia Warner turned away all four Owens' shots in the win.

Delta and Owens move on to the Midwest District Tournament, held at Delta College, on Nov. 1 & 2. The top-ranked Pioneers take on Joliet Junior College at 12 p.m. on Nov. 1, while Owens faces No. 6 Rochester Community & Technical College at 3 p.m. The winner of each semifinal will meet for the Midwest District title on Nov. 2 at 1 p.m. with the champion securing a spot in the NJCAA Division III National Championship.
