Muskegon Sweeps Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships

HILLSDALE -- The NJCAA Region 12 Indoor Track & Field Championships were held on Saturday (Jan. 25) at Hillsdale College as an internal event at the Wide Track Classic. Muskegon Community College swept the day, winning the men's title by over 50 points and securing the women's crown by a narrow seven-point margin. In all, 18 men's and 16 women's programs competed at Hillsdale's Wide Track Classic ranging from NCAA Division II to NJCAA institutions. As for the region, the men's side had three declared teams competing while the women's side boasted four.

In the men's championship, the Jayhawks cruised to the 2025 NJCAA Region 12 Indoor Track & Field Championship by amassing 95 points, a total good for third overall in the talent-laden event. St. Clair County Community College was next in the region standings with 41 points while Macomb checked in with 30. 

In a tightly-contested women's champioinship, the Jayhawks emerged victorious in a battle that came down to the wire. The Jayhawks pulled away late from second place Cuyahoga Community College after posting 25 points in the final three events to earn the Region 12 Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship by a seven-point differential. In all, the Jayhawks racked up 130 points while the Triceratops of Cuyahoga posted a stellar 123 points. The first-and-second place region efforts saw the Jayhawks finish third overall in the loaded field with the Triceratops checking in fourth overall. Third place in the region went to Macomb with 42 points while St. Clair County had seven points.

Muskegon head cross country and track & field coach, Nick Marcinkowski, was named Region 12 Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Coach of the Year following the Jayhawks' sweep. In total, Muskegon's men's and women's teams combined for 14 individual and relay event championships on the day to pace both programs to the titles.
